Allotments

31 plots have now been made available.  A lot of hard work has gone into getting the land ready and to laying on water, dip tanks, planting of hedges, fencing and footpaths etc.  Some members have worked unstintingly to get this preparatory work done.  It has been great to see such a show of community spirit and to see people working together and having fun.  28 plots have now been taken which includes the one being provided for Thomas Eaton School.    The new Chairman of the allotment holders committee is Rachel Hawkes

Plots cost £52 per year plus £10 deposit for gate key.   If you would like to apply for an allotment please call the Allotments secretary,  Mrs G. Irvine on,  01354 741701.  Please note that you must be a member of The Allotment Association which costs £5 per year and this can also be arranged through the Allotments Secretary.

Parish Plan

Work on the survey design and content is now complete and you are urged to complete the survey as soon as possible.  The information gained from responses to the survey questions will aid the development of the Parish.  From 9 May you will be able to complete the survey on-line if you wish at http://parishplan.wimblington.com.

Twinning

Wimblington and Stonea Twinning have been formed to promote friendships between our community and our twinned community in Italy, Morazzone.

Morazzone is a pretty village, 30 miles north of milan in the beautiful Italian Lake District with snow covered Alps in the distance.  The village has two schools, bakeries, restaurants, shops, bar and hotel and is a thriving community with sports groups, civic buildings and a community centre in a nearby forest.

So far a group from our community have visited Morazzone for the weekend in 2007 and a group from Morazzone visited us for a weekend lat May.  This year a group of 11-15 year old school children with accompanying adults will be visiting us during our Gala Weekend 27-28 June.

WE NEED....................

IDEAS - do you have any great ideas how we could involve the young people from our two communities?

SPORTS YOUTH TEAMS - could you organise an England v. Italy match on Saturday?  Could you coach their tug-of-war team on Saturday?

HOSTS - to provide b & b for the weekend

HELP - during the weekend

Please get in touch, Wimblington Sports and Community Committee have already pledged their support and have invited the Italian youngsters to be involved in all aspects of our annual Gala.  They will enter a float in the parade, will have their own Gala King and Queen and will attend the family disco and sports afternoon.  We are all looking forward to a really fun packed weekend with our visitors.
